What is a teacher to you? What makes you think of the difference between a "good" teacher and a "bad" teacher? Teachers may lead a simple life outside the class room but inside is a very different story. As teachers, you have to power to put on your super cape each morning and touch a classroom full of kids each year. Through your career, you could touch hundreds of lives that may have been the missing link and key to open to doors of the future in a very positive and dramatic way.
Its only takes one smiles, one look, one word of encouragement that can shape the self esteem and confidence in a child to help them understand their purpose in this life. You can give them the words to help them achieve greatness through your aide in the classroom. That moment when your student "gets it." That moment that the concept you shared has finally impacted their relationship with their peers.
Its doesn't matter what you do, what age you educate, YOU ARE A SUPER HERO TO SOMEONE. We never know what truly goes on in the students home life. You may be there only encouragement, their only saving grace. You may be the only one leading them down a road of success. You as a teacher, have the power in your hands to change the world and the future.
So dont take your job lightly. You are hold the keys. Take the time to gain an relationship with those who need it and make sure no child gets left behind. Become that mentor that you needed. Become that special teacher that you loved and considers "good" when you were young.
